I was raised on Naval movies, my uncle being a submariner at the height of the Cold War, hearing stories of his time at sea and under the ocean, so I was excited to see the trailer for Hunter Killer.  My first thought when seeing the trailer was The Hunt for Red October 2.0.  With Amazon Prime revamping the character of Jack Ryan in its new series, anyone could see how this would not be such a far leap to say.  I am happy to say, I was not disappointed.
The movie is two hours long but it did not feel like it.  I had to double check my watch as the credits began because I thought I was cheated of the time.  While it is a thriller/action movie, keeping your attention the entire time, it was pretty easy to see what was about to happen, before it happened, especially if you are into Naval movies.
If you are into Naval movies I highly recommend this movie, but do not get your hopes up high.  Like I said, it moves fast and keeps your attention but falls short of the Naval movies that have come before it.  There are more high tech gadgets that you get to see that you have seen before but that’s the extent of the 2.0 version.
It’s a good way to kill a few hours without the time dragging on.  Still, I give it four stars.
